OKINAWA ISLAND

7 DAYS / 4 ROUNDS OF GOLF
AUTUMN August-October

Somewhere in those hidden corners of Japan you will discover our exotic golfing journeys. Say hello to Okinawa. With a distinctive tropical climate, golfers have the opportunity to play golf whenever they want and enjoy the surrounding island paradise at their leisure. The time we love in Okinawa is between early-November through to middle-December. This period has mild and stable weather with comfortable daytime temperatures, the typhoon and monsoon season is over and there are plenty of sunny days.  November is ideal to escape the cold northern winter or the hot southern summer. The average daily seawater temperatures is very comfortable at around the 25c level.

This Northern Pacific Ocean paradise boasts turquoise waters, vibrant coral reefs, and predictable mild weather. It's a favourite destination for those seeking out a tropical getaway with white sand beaches, a turquoise laid-back island lifestyle, and naturally, their world-class golf club courses. Seafood lovers won't be disappointed, with fresh lobster, sea urchin, and local catches for sushi, sashimi and tempura are all available fresh on demand.

Located 3 hours by jet, south of Tokyo, is our dazzling tropical paradise. Bring your A-Game.

Sunday Day 1. Naha, Okinawa.

Welcome to this Pacific Paradise. Due to staggered arrival times, we ask that you make your way to the Okinawa Prince Hotel at Ginowan Port Marina. After 2pm you may check-in and explore the waterfront surroundings or use the beautiful hotel facilities. We meet in the lobby at 6pm for canapes and drinks to introduce all of your fellow golfers.

Monday Day 2.  Shurei Country Club

Shurei provides an exclusive golfing experience, with every tee hole showcasing a breathtaking overview of the vast blue sea. The magnificent enclosing nature boosted the golf club to rank itself among Japan’s 100 most beautiful golf courses. Shurei Country Club sits on the Chinen peninsula high ground. The elevated location of the golf course gives players a sense of freedom and allows them to soak in the phenomenal view of the ocean and the perfect greens. Bentgrass is used for the golf courses, meaning that players can enjoy the smooth lawn all year long. Because of its high location, the ocean wind has an immense impact on the gameplay. The club challenges the players to read the landscape and the weather and come up with a strategy. The hills require precise techniques to perfect the uphill and downhill lies, forcing players to adjust to each hole. While all holes have an excellent ocean view, the 6th hole is the highlight because of the Pacific Ocean on the left and the Nakagusukuwan Port on the right. The courses at Shurei is relatively shorter compared to the other ones since the driving distance is shorter. However, the bunkers and water hazards are very well-placed.

Tuesday Day 3.  Southern Links Golf Course

Get ready for an exciting game of golf along the coast at the Southern Links Golf Club in Okinawa. Forty-meter-high oceanside cliffs require accurate shots to guide your ball safely down the fairway, and strategically placed creeks, water hazards, and tropical plants challenge and delight players of all levels. After a day of fun on the fairway, immerse yourself in Okinawa's history and culture with a visit to the ruins of Gushikawa Castle, a 15th century castle. One of Okinawa's most well-known oceanfront golf courses, with a stunning setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Having a unique integration of the coastline's 40-meter-high cliffs, two of the course's signature holes call for shots over the Pacific Ocean.

Wednesday Day 4.  Kerama Islands

We base ourselves around Aka Island for the day. Out here the ocean is warm and fit for a refreshing swim off the beach. Optionally, a guide will escort you to snorkel, kayak or paddle board over the abundant reef systems in this area. Tropical fish and beautiful waters are simply fabulous. Onshore you can take a 2-hour hiking track from one side of the island, over the saddle, to the other side with a refresh swim at the end. Beach combing is also a perfectly acceptable option as we relax on this island. A beautiful lunch is served alfresco style for us to enjoy in these gorgeous surroundings. We are only 16 nautical miles from Naha by ferry so late in the afternoon we return and are back at Naha by sunset with an evening in the city still to enjoy.

Thursday Day 5.  Atta Terrace Golf Resort

Nestled in the hills of Onna Village, the resort offers golfers a wonderful experience. The 18 holes were designed by Arnold Palmer and the golf course offers a challenge and an equally rewarding round of golf. With stunning views of The East China Sea and surrounding landscape. Attention to detail is the delight here, with the inclusion of bunkers in exactly the right place to draw the golfers eye and add danger where needed.

If there is not a bunker in the way then the designer has positioned water hazards with the same detail. The greens are delightfully crafted. Varying in size the greens at Atta Terrace are presented in tip-top condition and move from subtle undulations to more obvious undulations that will cause some nightmares. This make you want to return again and again.

A beautifully appointed clubhouse offering spacious locker and shower rooms, lobby area, swimming pool, banqueting rooms and a delightful restaurant that serves traditional local cuisines completes the experience at Atta Terrace Golf Resort.

Friday Day 6.  Kanehide Kise CC

Kanehide is a  long course at 7,193 yards and par set at 72, this is a course with excellent service. It was established in the lush forest area of Lamburu and hosted the Japan PGA Nissin Cup in 2017. The first 9 Ocean Course is characterised by the straight course layout that is based on natural features and includes diverse undulations. The second 9 Woods Course is full of variations with doglegs and hazards located mong the trees and the valleys.
